Traffic Issues in Muzaffarabad AJK

‘Muzaffarabad’is the capital city of ‘Azad Jammu & Kashmir’ (AJK). AJK is the self-governing state under the Federation of Pakistan. Muzaffarabad is the richest district of ‘Pakistan’ announced by Planning Commission of Pakistan in the report

The city is located in Muzaffarabad District near the confluence of the Jhelum and Neelum rivers. The district is bounded by the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the west, by the Kupwara and Baramulla districts of Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir in the east and the Neelum District of Azad Kashmir in the north.

One of the major problem in Muzaffarabad is Public transport. People don’t use public transport for traveling across the city, from one place to another. everyone is using his or her personal vehicle.
Students are using bikes as a source of transport, many teenagers are riding bikes without license and NIC and making disturbance by doing ‘one wheeling’ on roads. There are already many cases of ‘one wheeling’ in Muzaffarabad. Traffic police is doing their best to catch all ‘one wheelers’ and give punishment under the law.

Since traffic issues are increasing day by day in Muzaffarabad, at mid-noon there is no single space on roads for walking especially in Secretariat and other areas of Muzaffarabad.
Traffic police officers are doing their best to control traffic but still due to the more amount vehicles in Muzaffarabad, Traffic issues are increasing day by day.

The government need to take the step to control traffic issues in Muzaffarabad, Roads are not in their original conditions. Every year many incidents are due to bad condition of roads.

The government needs to established traffic signal lights on every main road in Muzaffarabad to control traffic issues. Muzaffarabad is the developed city but traffic issues are decreasing the value of City.

The government needs to stop teenagers from riding bikes and cars, establishing signal lights on every main road and increasing traffic officers to cover traffic issues. for development of Muzaffarabad.
